Dr. Baiyee-Mbi Agbor-Baiyee is the President and Chief Executive Officer of African University Foundation, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, M.S. in Agribusiness Management and B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Alabama A & M University, Normal, Alabama.
Reflecting on the African University initiative, Dr. Agbor-Baiyee states that: “Once in a while a great idea comes along that could potentially serve as a catalyst for change. The unique vision and philosophy of the African University has the potential to make such an impact in the African society. I consider it an honor and privilege to be contributing to the mission of the African University Foundation to establish African University in Tali, Cameroon. The mission of African University fits well with my life-long dream to pursue a career that involves addressing the educational, social, and economic problems of Africa. That interest motivated me to study agricultural economics and agribusiness management at the university level. In addition, my personal experience and knowledge of Cameroon has enhanced my understanding of the problems confronting its economy and educational systems.” Dr. Agbor-Baiyee taught undergraduate courses and conducted research during his graduate studies. He has made several presentations and written academic papers in the Agricultural Economics area. He also served as a consultant to business ventures in Cameroon. He is responsible for setting the strategic vision of the foundation including but not limited to: planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring the fundraising operations to mobilize resources needed to launch African University in Cameroon. Dr. Agbor-Baiyee is married and has two sons. |
